Prof. Dr. Ali Çekici "Prosthetics and Periodontal Tissues: A Love and Hate Story"
In this presentation, we will focus on one of the most critical and sometimes complex relationships in our prosthetic and restorative dentistry clinic: the relationship between prosthetics and periodontal tissues.
While prosthetics provide a functional and aesthetic transformation for our patients by replacing lost dental tissues, the permanence of this success is directly dependent on the health of the gums and bone (periodontal tissues) supporting the prosthetics.
As our title suggests, the interaction between these two structures sometimes results in perfect harmony ("Love"); however, due to mechanical stresses, hygiene challenges, and biological limitations, it often leads to serious clinical issues, turning into a conflict ("Hate").
By examining this "Love and Hate Story" in light of current scientific data and evidence-based approaches, I aim to present you clinicians with critical information and strategies vital for successful prosthetic applications. Together, we will discuss how to maximize long-term success.
Prof. Dr. Ali Çekici Biography
He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 2000. He completed his doctoral education in the Department of Periodontology at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 2007. Between 2012 and 2014, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University's Forsyth Institute in the USA for two years. He earned the title of Associate Professor in 2014 and was appointed as a Professor at Istanbul University in 2024. He currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Periodontology at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry.
Prof. Dr. Ali Çekici also holds roles as the President of the Turkish Society of Periodontology and a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayça Yılmaz "Innovations in Endodontics / Clinical Tips for the Use of NiTi Systems"
Endodontic treatment involves the cleaning, shaping, disinfection, and filling of the root canal system. Success in the initial shaping phase affects the success of subsequent treatment steps. The effectiveness of Nickel Titanium systems in shaping has been proven today. The content of this talk aims to provide evidence-based and up-to-date information on the development of NiTi systems up to the present, their technical and general features, and clinical tips to consider during their use. Additionally, the most recent innovations in endodontics will be addressed, from 3D imaging and AI-supported analyses in diagnosis to new protocols in root canal shaping and irrigation. The aim is to present practical recommendations that can be quickly integrated into daily practice, enhancing patient safety and treatment success.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayça Yılmaz Biography
Dr. Ayça Yılmaz completed her undergraduate education at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2001. She completed her doctoral education in the Department of Endodontics at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry and continued her studies in the same department, earning the title of Associate Professor in Endodontics in 2021. She has numerous publications in national and international journals, authorship of book chapters, and roles as editor for journals and books. In addition to congress and conference speeches, she has conducted numerous hands-on training sessions on NiTi systems. She continues her work in the Department of Endodontics at Istanbul University and is a board member of the Turkish Endodontic Society and the Istanbul Chamber of Dentists.

Dr. Sina Saygılı
TMR Differential Diagnoses and Clinical Tips (1 Hour)
Phase 2 Treatments and Occlusion (1 Hour)
Demonstration: Digital Facebow and Mandibular Movement Recording with Zebris (30 Min.)
The treatment of TMR is carried out with occlusal splints and supportive therapies before irreversible interventions are made in the mouth. This allows for testing occlusal stabilization and optimal tooth contacts in patients without making permanent changes in the mouth. However, after symptoms and healing in the related tissues, some changes in tooth relationships may occur in patients. Resolving this mismatch will be valid under conditions where patients experience functional discomfort. These interventional treatments, called Phase 2 treatments, can sometimes be applied in combination or individually, ranging from orthodontics to prosthetic applications. The learning objectives of this presentation are to manage the decisions for interventional treatments to be made after Phase 1 treatments, to see the methods of trial in the mouth before interventional treatments, and to observe application examples of these methods.
Dr. Sina Saygılı Biography
Sina Saygılı graduated from Istanbul German High School with a dual high school diploma including Abitur, and then completed his undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry. As of 2015, he started the doctoral program in the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry at the same faculty and completed the program in 2022 with his thesis titled "Examination of Two Different Methods Used in the Individualization of Virtual Articulator Settings." He continues his career in the same faculty and department.
