Posterior Indirect Restorations with Biomimetic Approaches from Planning to Cementation

In the last 30 years, advancements in adhesive dentistry and material science have led dentistry to evolve from a mechanical perspective to biological approaches. Despite all these developments, traditional full crowns are still adopted as the primary treatment approach by many dentists in cases requiring cusp coverage. However, while 70-75% of tooth tissue is removed in traditional full crown preparations, only 32-47% is removed in conservative onlay and overlay preparations. Thanks to the mechanical resistance and adhesive capabilities of all-ceramic materials like lithium disilicates, teeth with advanced damage can be restored with less tissue removal and by re-establishing the biomechanical properties of natural tooth tissue. This presentation will focus on the fundamental concepts of biomimetic dentistry, such as immediate dentin sealing, deep margin elevation, and the application of ceramic onlay and overlay restorations. In practical application, a workshop will be conducted on the bonding and finishing techniques of glass restorations.
