IMPLANT SELECTION AND TREATMENT OPTIMIZATION IN ATROPHIC ALVEOLAR RIDGES
Atrophic alveolar ridges are among the most common obstacles encountered during implant rehabilitation. Various treatment approaches have been developed using different implant types and surgical techniques to overcome these anatomical challenges. Each implant system has its unique advantages and reasons for preference.

The surgeon's treatment plan is shaped by bone quality, quantity, and patient-specific clinical conditions, guiding implant selection. In specific cases, leveraging the strengths of implants can significantly enhance treatment success. Especially in cases where primary stability is critical for immediate loading or where advanced grafting procedures are necessary, the right implant type can make a significant difference.

This course aims to demonstrate how to optimize treatment success by discussing how to utilize strengths in implant selection for challenging cases through case examples.

PROF. DR. GÜHAN DERGİN BIOGRAPHY
Born in İzmit in 1973. Graduated from Sakarya Anatolian High School in 1993 and from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1999. In the same year, he began his doctoral studies at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 2005, he was a visiting doctor at the University of North Carolina, Department of Maxillofacial Surgery in the USA, and completed his thesis on implant osseointegration at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, earning his doctorate in 2006. During 2006-2007, he served as a maxillofacial surgeon at the General Staff of Ankara and then continued his academic career as a faculty member at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He received the title of Associate Professor at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2012 and continues his academic career at the same faculty. He has participated as an invited speaker at numerous national and international congresses and has published articles in international and national scientific journals and books in his field.
